Families to benefit from program funding support

Hundreds of families across the region are set to benefit from government funding allocated towards counselling and educational programs to build supportive and safe homes. Local service provider, Encircle, will receive more than $2.8 million over the next five years to deliver a range of family and parenting programs through neighbourhood outlets which supported about 860 people last year alone.

These programs help to improve family communication, solve family problems and create a better functioning home environment. They can also assist people with issues of substance abuse, dealing with anger and emotional problems as well as overcoming past trauma.

Working together in partnership, Encircle, the Centre Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) in Caboolture and the Bribie Island & District Neighbourhood Centre deliver the Strengthening Family Connections program.

"In this program, our experienced counsellors work with individuals, couples and families to help them improve their mental health and the wellbeing of the whole family. We are pleased to continue this important work,” CADA chief executive Holly Brennan OAM said.

Encircle chief executive Chris Staines said this service was designed to tackle the different and complex challenges that families faced.
