BEACHMERE U3A GROWING STRONG

Beachmere U3A opened it’s doors in January 2021 as U3A Beachmere Inc. This milestone was achieved in November 2020 closely followed by the election of a new Committee.

The Committee members have a range of skills well suited to their new roles and describe themselves as a friendly, motivated group.

“We look forward to assisting the members build on what had been established by the outgoing committee”, Chair, Barb Woodroffe said.

“Bribie U3A, Caboolture U3A and U3A Qld Network have been, and continue to be, a tremendous support and source of encouragement.”

“As Beachmere U3A Inc is newly incorporated, members are really joining for the first time. We were really well supported with over 140 members joining in the first few weeks. “

“An amazing range of classes and workshops from Monday to Friday in Term One proved to be a hit with most classes reaching capacity, but we often have space for casual visits. Our thanks go to all the tutors and volunteers for their time and willingness to make this possible.

“Remember you can be a tutor if you have an interest in a subject, or some knowledge you can share. You need no qualifications. The premise is to promote healthy ageing by sharing educational, creative and leisure activities for those in the third age of life to foster a friendly, stress free environment to learn and socialise”, Barb said.

Beachmere U3A moved into new premises at The Hub, Main Street Beachmere in September 2020. “The Hub is newly renovated and has provided us with light and airy spaces with room to expand. Members have been delighted with the new class rooms and The Hub committee have shown great support,” Barb said.

U3A Beachmere look forward to the year ahead with plans well under way for an exciting program of classes and workshops for Term Two. This program will be available in late March with Sign On days to be announced soon.
