A tribute to a terrific bloke

I’m so sorry to read of Harvey’s passing. I thoroughly enjoyed his writings.

I was quite surprised and saddened by the passing of Harvey. He always bought a smile to mine and others faces in our family. Thank you again for the possibility of having a little bit of Harvey with us forever through the ‘Tiger Tea Club Book’.

Brad

Cranky Lizard was the first thing I read in the LOCAL Bribie Island newspaper. Loved the way he stirred the pot, especially with Labor. Another good letter in today’s ‘the LOCAL’. Hope someone else steps up and gives us a good read.

Thank you

V Guilfoyle

Damn I loved reading his comments. RIP clever man. Your family must be very proud of the legacy you have left behind. Regards C Davis

I am writing to express my condolences to Harvey’s family but also to you and your staff there. I looked forward to each edition to see what Harvey had to say in both of his roles. I can’t recall a time when I disagreed with what he said and stood for. Sadly, the woke and cancel culture is steam rolling over those who grew up and worked in the time that Harvey did. I am dismayed at the selfishness of, lack of consideration of, and the lawlessness by many that pervade our community now. From what I have read of Harvey’s writings for some years now, he felt this way too. We have lost a good man.

Best wishes

Ron

Firstly, I will miss Cranky Lizards articles in your paper, to me it was the highlight of reading the paper, and always enjoyed his take on current affairs. I have lived on the Island now for the past 20 years, my parents have been here for nearly 40 years, with my dad, Mervyn Mccullough fast approaching his 100th Birthday (not till next August).

My dad and I spent many a morning over a cup of coffee discussing Cranky Lizards views.

Thanking you

I will certainly miss Harvey’s writings, which were a highlight of the month, even if I disagreed with him in both personas. Yes, I guessed it was the same person, because, in spite of his obvious intelligence, his writing always displayed a bias in his education, whether that came from schooling or his personal experiences, his political predilections or his religious convictions. As a scientist seeking real evidence, I have always found it hard to believe he could think his way. I hope you can find a suitable replacement.

Have always enjoyed reading Harvey's contributions to your paper and would really appreciate a copy of his book if it is still available. Hope you can find a worthy replacement though I doubt that will be easy.

Yours sincerely

I was saddened to read of Harvey’s passing. What a loss! As Cranky Lizard, his writing was unique and always topical which could at times be controversial to some. It was always the first page I would turn to. Condolences to his family and followers. His footsteps will be hard to replace.

Yours sincerely

Wonderful articles on a Harvey Fewings life.

Many thanks

Thanks

Such sad news of Harvey’s passing. He was one of those all-too-rare islands of reason, in an ideological tempest of fantasy posing as ‘progress’.

Cheers

C M Inglis

My husband loved Cranky Lizard’s column & agreed with his views often.

He will be missed.

Thanking you

Mrs G Tracey.

Just picked up a copy of The LOCAL Island and Surrounds news. It was sad to read of the passing of Harvey Fewings. His writings were interesting and a good read when we received the paper.
