Pedestrian Safety to be improved at Pumicestone State School

Earlier this year Simone Wilson MP met with the Principal of the Pumicestone State School to discuss the need for a school pedestrian crossing to be installed. Simone understood that a number of parents also approached the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) about this important issue. Currently the closet crossing is situated some distance from the school at a set of traffic lights on the corner of Pumicestone Road and Ardrossan Road, leaving no safe crossing at the school.

Simone Wilson MP was pleased to represent her community on this safety issue with TMR and have recently received a reply. TMR are currently liaising with the Moreton Bay Regional Council to relocate the crossing infrastructure to a suitable location. Further, the Principal of Pumicestone State School has been advised by TMR that the school will benefit from new state funded School Crossing Supervisors and once the infrastructure is in place the crossing supervision can commence. This is a good outcome for the Pumicestone State School community.
