BEACHMERE GETS TOGETHER FOR GOOD CAUSES

Beachmere showed its generosity, and its eagerness to get together, for a good cause by supporting two separate fund raiser events in October raising over $5000 in just one week.

A High Tea for Breast Cancer support group Be Uplifted saw some 80 people join organiser, Margie Foumakis, at the Beachmere Hotel on a Saturday morning. The event raised much needed funds for Be Uplifted who provide financial assistance for those still trying to pay living expenses whilst undergoing chemotherapy or treatment.

The morning of delicious food, latest fashions on parade by Caboolture boutique, On Trend, and warm words from host Pippa Sheehan and guests Peter Flannery, Councillor Div 2, and Susan Lamb, Federal Member for Pumicestone, provided a great environment and opportunity for Be Uplifted to explain their program and how important it is in the lives of those who need assistance.

Beachmere Slimmers organised a Cent Auction and Morning Tea which raised over $2600 for Cancer Council Queensland PINK. Judy Finn, President of Beachmere Slimmers, was “blown away” by the support on the day.

“People just kept turning up. We kept adding more tables and chairs. Everyone was so generous, in donating prizes and of their own time, both before and on the day”, Judy said.

Margie was also pleased with the High Tea and with the opportunity to promote the great work of Be Uplifted.

“It was awesome. So many people helped, so many businesses jumped on board and donated prizes. Beachmere businesses also helped by selling raffle tickets,” Margie said.

“Last year it was just a small “pink” occasion at the Beachmere Bakery where we raised $1400 so I really appreciate the support of everyone who has supported me this year.
